Blinkbid has a 3x redundant back up strategy for you data. Every time you quit Blinkbid it backs your data up to the following locations:
Your active data file can be found in:
Each version of Blinkbid has its own backup file and can be indentified by the last three characters of the file name. For example the backup file for version 5.02 is BBBAK502. Backing Up Your Data: You should have a working back up routine for all the files on your computer. To included Blinkbid data in that routine make sure to backup your Documents > Blinkbid folder. With this folder you can rebuild your data file on any computer. Moreover if drastic situation occurs we can recover data from the files in your Documents > Blinkbid folder. Remember the backup files do not get updated until you quit Blinkbid. So quitting Blinkbid when you're done with it or at the end of the day is a good thing. Precautions: Blinkbid writes to your data file during idle time. Which means that when Blinkbid is inactive it writes data to its data file. This is why you should never move your active data file while Blinkbid is open. It will corrupt your database. What happens when you update: the Blinkbid installer uninstalls the current version of Blinkbid and places the new version in its place. On the MAC it takes the old version and places it in the trash. On Windows it uninstalls the old version including the DLLs and installs the new version. The backup files referred to above are never touched. |
