More Blinkbid Goodness v6.04

Posted October 4th, 2011 by

Today we’ve updated Blinkbid to address a few requests and minor bugs. This is a free upgrade to anyone already using Blinkbid 6.x for Mac or Windows. If you’re on an older version, please see ourĀ upgrade pricing.

Here’s a rundown of what you’ll find in the v6.04 update

Changes and Additions

    • Agent’s invoice now indicates commissionable fees in the description
    • Added envelope printing capabilities from the contact card

  • Added option to suppress the date under the signature image of an invoice
  • Added “Receive Advance” in the Job menu in the Production window. Also added an indicator in the Production window to show that the advance has been received
  • Added an option to print the job nickname on estimates and invoices. The option can be found in the Document Appearance > Label Text section
  • Added the ability to print a Production Report
  • Added New Zealand terms and conditions

Bug Fixes

  • Blinkbid now calculates profit based on productions expenses if there are no actuals
  • When suppressing the logo at print time, the additional space at top feature will now work
  • Fixed a bug that when duplicating a job the wrong version number was applied to the duplicated job disallowing use of the Production module
  • Fixed a decimal error in the bid consultant in which two categories were showing dollars instead of hundreds of dollars in rare cases
  • Fixed a minor problem with the Quickbooks export that affected users who entered an overall job markup

Firstly, I really love working with Blindbid. And when I just read the update email, it never dawned on me to send in a request for future updates. This might seem really odd to ask since this IS an invoicing software, but here it is: I use of my my personalities to store a full list of equipment rentals and prices. This greatly aids my estimating process on larger jobs. I used this based on an aggregate of all rental houses and their prices and it helps me arrive at a final number while helping me not forget little things that I see in the list, like A-Clamps and Apple Boxes. All fine – but here is the request…. Can there be a rate supression option so that I could use this “estimate” to give a rental house for my order without them (or others) seeing the rates, since they are based on averages and might be confusing. This is great side-option to Blinkbid – and I know not it’s intended use, but this workflow keeps me from bouncing over to iwork all of the time. So basically, I’m asking if an option could be made that will leave prices off of line items and just show quantities. Thank you for the future consideration.

    Hi David

That’s a great suggestion. We’ll have a look at implementing it a future release. Would it be good just to print the rentals category or the whole bid – hiding fees.

We have something like that now which is the production sheet, but it includes rates.

Also – print or email the rental house?

I would love to be able to choose where the blinkbid’s data file is saved!

I use dropbox and would love to have the file save to my dropbox desktop folder. This way I can use blinkbid on all my computers and they will always be in sync!

    Any thoughts?

blinkbid is awesome, saves me time, effort and my estimates are better. I would also like the ability to sync the data between two computers using dropbox or some cloud implementation. I often need to be able to work on the same estimates on my desktop and mobile laptop. Also is ipad app in the works? David

I also agree with both Jason and David. I love Blinkbid and use it on both my studio mac and macbook pro when on location or traveling. As it stands I use remote folders and end up copying the Blinkbid data file to one of these so that the next time I use the other computer I can copy and paste it over the local data file. This is sometimes confusing and I have to check the dates on each file to make sure I use the most recent. If I don’t, and I put a bid together, I have to do things all over again.
It would be amazing to be able to select where the data file lives. That way I could just sync the folders and it would be automatically updated.
Otherwise Blinkbid has helped my business immensely. Thanks!
